Article page

The page that matters most: 90 per cent of sessions start here and the homepage gets 8 per cent. Two ad slots, one next step, and the summary presented honestly.

Why this page leads the rebuild

Of 1,790 sessions in the 28 days to 3 November 2026, the homepage was the landing page for 148. Everything else arrived on an article, from search, on a phone. Organic readers spent 114 seconds and then viewed 1.18 pages.

So this page is the product. The homepage is a formality.

The order

breadcrumb
kicker
headline display-2
standfirst
meta source, time, coverage count
hero image optional, with a credit caption
prose first two or three paragraphs
ad slot 1 of 2
prose the rest
source attribution who reported it, with a link out
share + save the share row, then save and follow
tags
next step matched to why the reader came
subscribe the offer matched to the topic, not the daily brief
ad slot 2 of 2

Two things about this order are deliberate. The ad never sits between the headline and the first paragraph. And the next step comes before the second ad, because the reader's onward journey is worth more than the impression.

The list sets out which passports qualify for the youth mobility pool next year, and Nigeria is not on it.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada published the list of countries whose young citizens may apply under the 2027 pool. The arrangement is reciprocal, which is what determines who appears on it.

slot 1 of 2

Applicants from listed countries enter a pool and are invited in rounds. Processing times vary by stream, and the published figures lag the current queue.

Reciprocity, not demand, decides the list.

Against what it replaces

Be honest about length

A 147-word summary should look like a 147-word summary. Padding it with furniture to fill a screen is what produced the old page. If the summary is short, the page is short, and the next step arrives sooner.
